From our First and Gospel readings we hear about the faith of two widows.  In biblical times widows were among the poorest of the poor.  The widow in the First Reading was a non-Jew, who had a son to support. She was down to her last handful of meal and a drop of olive oil.

The relationship between God and man is a special bond of love.  St. John tells us that God is love and because he is love he created the universe and made man master and masterpiece of his creation.  God is present in every bit of creation and presents himself to the human person as an
